Construction Manager

Summary:

The Construction Manager reports to the Vice President – Operations, and will be responsible for planning and managing the stages of the construction project. The Construction Manager will oversee work schedules, delegate tasks, and ensure the projects are safely completed on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate constructions projects from start to finish.
  • Manage the project logistical requirements according to schedule, specifications and budget.
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with owners, clients, consultants, and trades.
  • Manage the project management team to get construction progress, financials, and admin.
  • Meet with clients and design teams and liaison between project/construction team and trades
  • On site visits to inspect work, check materials, and ensure the construction schedule is followed.
  • Manage the budget process and inform Senior Management about project costs and progress.
  • Review the project budget, labour, and project plans to ensure construction is on schedule.
  • Review and authorize sub-trade and material payments and ensure accurate cost coding.
  • Ensure that deficiencies are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Assist in securing new work by participating in estimates, proposals, and presentations.
  • Participate in the design process, and manage the value engineering process, when required.
  • Interview candidates for job openings in the Operations Department.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering (Civil/Construction/Architectural) or Technical College diploma in Construction Management or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Project Manager in the ICI construction industry or minimum of 5 years of experience as a Senior Project Manager/ Construction Manager in ICI construction.
  • Computer literate, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Project
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods), industry practices, estimating/budgeting, scheduling, and safety requirements.
  • Experience working on Net Zero, Prefabrication, Modular, or Green Construction projects are all assets.
  • Gold Seal Certified, LEED Accredited Professional and WELL Accredited Professional are all assets.
  • Knowledge of Suretrak, Primavera P3 / P6, Procore and BIM software knowledge are all assets.
Working Conditions:
  • Primary work locations are Head Office and Project Sites
  • Project related travel is anticipated.
